We are a Polish-Dutch design duo based in Amsterdam, designing across various scales with a focus on timeless, flexible, playful, and thoughtful design. The name “MAK,” meaning poppy in Polish, honors Aleksandra’s roots and the studio’s location on Klaproosweg (Poppy Street) in Amsterdam, where it all began.

Aleksandra, an interior architect with a global portfolio and part-time plant-based chef, and Loran, with a background in architecture and construction, create designs that span from handcrafted furniture to complete interior spaces. Together, we believe that design can encourage a more intentional, playful, and curious way of living.

Our philosophy is rooted in a love for nature, raw materials, and the purity of form. We emphasize the beauty of natural elements, rather than hiding them. We are passionate about color as a means of self-expression and a symbol of playfulness—because, after all, we all need more sunny days!
